CHARITY PINNING
Donna, at Carillon Lakes hosts a charity pinning on the First Friday of the Month. Contact Donna Bishop if you would like help pinning your charity quilt. After pinning, you can stay and work on your own project.

August Sewalong

Everything but the Machine Tote Sewalong-10 am at First Presbyterian Church
|
The August class, Everything but the Machine tote has just two spots left. Cost is $10 cash and lunch is included. Please bring your own drink with a lid. Don't forget your pattern, Sterilite container, sewing machine and supplies. It will speed things along if you can cut your pieces prior to class. Irons and iron surfaces and cutting surfaces will be provided.

There is a need for port pillows to be made for cancer patients to velcro on their seat belts. It is managed through the Arts in Medicine program sponsored by Watson Clinic. If you are interested in helping out, please click the button below for more information.

This month's fat quarter drawing is Bees/ sunflowers/yellows.Bring in a fat quarter, and if your ticket is drawn, you go home with a fat quarter bundle. See Diane Bishop at the back table to turn in your fat quarter(s). Fat Quarter drawing for September is Shades of Fall.

2026 Quilt Show News!
Our 2026 Quilt Show will be here before you know it. Chairpersons, we will be having a meeting to kick off our season very soon. I will be sending out an email soon. Keep stitching, we look forward to over 200 quilts to show.

Coming in October on a Second Saturday will be our boutique sew along. Sue has been working hard on getting some really fun patterns to work on. Check out the event calendar website for details.

Basket Donations!
Don't forget to bring your basket Donations for the Quilt Show to the meeting. There is a basket for collection on the back table. You can also sign up to sponsor a basket!

2026 Quilt Show Forms, Guidelines and Categories are available both here, on the website and at the meetings. Now is the time to be planning on what quilts you would like to display and/or have judged.

Charity News from Louise

This is the label that is available for attachment to each of the charity quilts you make and donate. The labels are available on one of the tables at each of our meetings. Louise Morgan

Bernina Ben will be joining us in August with tips and techniques on maintaining your sewing machine and the anatomy of needles. Ben will also be talking to us about trade in options.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Do we need Yoga? Well, heck yeah we do. Michelle Pugh has over 20 years of experience as a yoga teacher and quilter. She understands completely hours of being bent over a sewing machine or a cutting mat until the wee hours of the night...just one more block. The chronic use of the right foot on the pedal or the out of habit twisting to the ironing board. In this lecture she is going to help us to find those repetitive movements and unwind them. Plus help us create new patterns of movement and to help us stay pain free and balanced. Come prepared to stretch a bit and laugh, yes, she is pretty funny!

Inheriting a love of sewing from my grandmother and mother, I have always enjoyed experimenting with all kinds of arts and crafts, from painting to smocking to embroidery, and most recently, to quilting. I love fabric, have way too much of it, (not enough!) but truly enjoy working with it and seeing all of the possibilities it offers my creative soul.

Featherweight Circle News
|
What a great time was had by all attending our Featherweight Circle this month. Joyce presented a great project for us to complete. This group is open to all members with Featherweights. Please check the events calendar on the website to RSVP for each month. That is where you will also find more information for each month. Next month, September 10, Sue is bringing a cute bookmark project for us to sew. The requirement is a piece of fabric 3.5 by 10.5.

August 3rd was National Friend Day. To celebrate that, at this meeting, bring a heart to swap. Put your heart in an unmarked bag to swap with your friends.

The Lakeland Public Library is interested in teaching quilting classes and would like to see if there is anyone in our group that would like to volunteer to head it up. If you are interested, please contact Jacqui Anderson for more information.
