AUGUST 10TH, FABRIC WAREHOUSE! 9-4 CHARITY QUILT SEWALONG
|
See you this Saturday for our 2nd Saturday meeting, at the Fabric Warehouse 9-4, for a Charity Quilt Sewalong. Time to go through your stash and make use of that fabric you are not going to use. The Accuquilt cutting machine and 8" die and block will be available for use. There will be some cut squares available to sew. Please join us to sew some quilts for our community. Bring your lunch.

Quilts4Vets just launched its 2024-2025 Volunteer Makers Campaign, which allows your members to garner chances to win our Grand Prize, $500 in longarm quilting services, and other fun prizes. We provide quilts to veterans who suffer from the ravages of war.

Our block of the month is a crazy quilt and the only restriction is that the blocks are 8 1/2". There is a pattern for the block if you would like to use it located on the website in the members section under Bylaws and Forms.

OCTOBER 28 - 31, 2024 UPDATE:
It's not too late to sign up! Six reservations still waiting to be filled by lucky quilters wanting to quilt until they wilt!! Some of the activities for the four days will include: Secret Sisters, White Elephant gift exchange, An Orange night - details to follow. A mystery project taught by Deb that you complete in an hour and can be a great gift for a friend!!!!! Once the retreat has been filled - communications will continue through email to participants. A waiting list will be established should anyone need to cancel their reservation. You can reserve your spot on the Ladies of the Lakes website. A $100 deposit guarantees your reservation, a check or credit card can be given to me directly. Contact me through email for payment. Looking forward to a great HalloRetreat with treats, fun and no tricks!!!

Paula will be teaching a feathered star workshop featuring her design and Paula’s paper foundation pattern makes sewing a feathered star as easy as stitching a straight line. Value and color placement as well as piecing tips and techniques are presented. Cost is $45.00 and tickets can be purchased on the website. There is a $10.00 additional fee for non-members payable at the time of the class. Classes are non-refundable but they are transferrable.

Meet our Guest Speakers/Upcoming Guild Meetings

|
|
|
Brenda Buddenhagen, an Orlando, Florida resident, and an experienced quilter, will be our guest speaker for August. Brenda has been a fabric rep for Blank Textiles since 2005 and will share the new and latest trends in fabric you will be seeing in your favorite quilt shops. Bring your questions about fabrics and she will be more than happy to answer them.

Her passion for the stories behind the quilts is a leading theme in her work.
Selected as “2001 Teacher of the Year” by The Professional Quilter Magazine Paula has been quilting since the early 1970s and teaching for over twenty years including the International Quilt Festival, Houston. Her quilts, patterns and articles have been published in magazines and books.

Kathryn Pellman is an artist, fashionista, quilter, cook, baker, gardener and storyteller. Her whimsical series of small, playful, single frame cartoons featuring long limbed and knobby kneed Fashionistas that invoke fashion illustration. Fashionistas mixed with some Word Salad combine fashion and quilting along with her passions and are a celebration and exploration of women and femininity, their lives, friendships and romantic relationships, real and imagined.
