Sewing Expo
|

This month we are starting a fat quarter drawing. Bring in a themed fat quarter, and if your number is drawn, you go home with a fat quarter bundle. This months theme is red/pink fat quarters.

Block of the Month
|
Our Block of the Month program this year is a crazy quilt block. The only requirement is that it is an 8" finished block. The program runs as follows: You are responsible to complete one block a month for 12 months. Since it is already February, we try to finish by December. Bring your block to the meeting to show it off.

I use family photos and my hand dyed, printed, and painted fabric to make quilt portraits of black life. I use different art methods to add designs to my work, including raku fired ceramic masks, retro photochemical processes (like cyanoprint,) and etching/burning fabric to create complex surface design.

I am passionate about the art of quilting. It brings ‘sew much joy’ to my life. a teacher at heart, I love to share my designs and techniques with fellow quilters. I enjoy teaching classes in quilt shops, for quilt guilds and retreats.

Diane Harris

I’m Diane Harris—a quilter who loves everything about the process and enjoys sharing it with others. I’ve been sewing for almost 50 years and quilting for three decades. I can’t imagine ever running out of ideas.

For 11 years, I was an editor for Quiltmaker magazine where I wrote patterns, product reviews and how-to articles. My quilt designs can still be seen regularly in the pages of Quiltmaker, McCall’s Quilting and Quick Quilts.
