For our August meeting we worked on our own projects and had a full house at the Fabric Warehouse. In September we will be working on an Angel pincushion. The pattern is in the supply list section of the website. If you would like to purchase the kit, here is the link for the December angel, but you may choose whatever month you like:

SPRING RETREAT 2027 DAYSPRING

Thank you Patty Grandemange and Bobbie Colgan for graciously accepting the responsibility of Spring Retreat Coordinators. The dates for the 2027 Spring Retreat are; May 3-7, 2027. NOW is the time to get your deposit in to save your spot. You can sign up online by clicking on the Events calendar, then finding the date and clicking on it. It will take you to the information for details and payment. The deposit is $100 and is up on the events calendar. You can also bring a check to the meeting. Please label it with Spring Retreat 2027.

Second Saturday Class News!
|
Treva taught us how to make the mini Diva wallet in our July Second Saturday class. Thank you, Treva for sharing your talents with the guild. Next month, our Second Saturday class is September 12th, with Kara and we will be having a Jelly Roll Race! Sign up on the website. Bring your jelly roll and three fat quarters to class. The fat quarters are for game time!

Connie Haynes has graciously agreed to be our new Sit and Sew Coordinator! Thank you, Connie. The next sit and sew on the calendar is Tuesday, August 25, noon to 2 at the main library.

PLEASE HOLD YOUR FREE STUFF FOR THE SEPTEMBER MEETING. THERE WILL BE NO FREE TABLE UNTIL AFTER SEPTEMBER. Remember, start putting those items in a special place in your sewing room for the September meeting.

Featherweight Retreat at Kooza Mountain Lodge

Robin Long of Robin Ruth Designs
|
|
What started out as a quest to make a Mariner's Compass quilt for her submarine officer husband, Robin Long took an idea she had in 1992 and launched Robin Ruth Design in January, 2015. She has developed a line of revolutionary rulers, books, patterns and techniques for making STRIP PIECED mariner's compass blocks in 16 sizes-thats right, NO PAPER PIECING! When she isn't on the road teaching and giving workshops, she is working on many new projects that bring the mariner's compass into the 21st century! Her products are sold in quilt shows across the US and around the world.

August class with Mary Jo Markle

Our class with Mary Jo with be a fun departure from the typical classes we provide. Mary Jo is bringing all of the supplies you will need with the exception of your sewing machine/sewing notions. Here is a sneak peak of some of the projects you will be doing. There is room in the class for you! Everything is provided for this class. Don't forget to sign up! If you are interested in making a tee shirt, bring your shirt and $10.00 for this bonus project. Half of the proceeds go to charity.

MEETING ROOM LOCATION CHANGE
|
As some of you may have noticed, First Presbyterian has been undergoing renovations. They are moving our meeting location to the Scout Building located on the edge of the South Entrance parking lot. This room has folding metal chairs, so I am suggesting you bring a cushion for your comfort. The room change will be effective with the SEPTEMBER meeting.
|
|
Because of the church renovations and growth of other church events, we have lost our Quilt Show Venue and are now actively seeking a new venue. If you have any leads, contact one of the board members for more information.

September Meeting
BiAnnual Fall Clearance and Games!
The star of the meeting is the Fall Clearance Auction with your favorite
auctioneers – Donna and Diane. Pick up your bright orange auction bags at the tables at the back before September so that you can clean up your sewing room (not the dust!). Put items in the bags that you no longer need or maybe a project you have lost interest in or fabric yardage (no bags of teeny scraps please), patterns, sewing related chotchkes. Bless the next person who will receive that bag with items that you think would be fun....for someone else!
There will ALSO be basket raffles and a silent auction (if anyone has a larger item they would like to sell to the guild).
Prizes:
1. Auction of Orange bags: you will be bidding on orange bags! Bring your
dollars to win an orange bag (hints will be given as to some of the items).
2. Basket raffles: IF you participated by filling an orange bag, you will get tickets to participate in the raffles (you will receive tickets at the door.) If you did not fill an orange bag, you may still purchase basket raffle tickets.
3. Silent auction - sheets will be available for items such as sewing machines, tables, large yardages of fabrics with a beginning bid. A picture or the actual item may be on display. If you are the highest bid, YOU WIN! The money goes directly to the seller.
4. GRAND PRIZE – for those who brought their orange bags, all monies will go into one pot, a ticket will be drawn, and YOU could be the winner of the pot! The pot will be capped at $250.00 going to the winner of the ticket with the remainder of the pot going to the guild as a fundraiser. You could walk away with $250.00!
Bring your orange bags to September’s meeting. Bring cash. LOTS of ways to participate! Lots of ways to win!

2026 LADIES OF THE LAKES CHRISTMAS PARTY
|
|
I Know that it is early, but Jacqui has already set plans in place for our Christmas Party. You can go to the website, under calendar events and secure your spot today for the party. This event will be catered by Frescos and the cost is $35.00. The menu is on the website. Don't wait, get your ticket today. Deadline to secure your spot is November 21st.
