Fabric for the boutique will be collected at the April and May meeting. Since we both will be away for the summer we will resume collection in September. As in the past we would appreciate your measuring the fabric. We will have a pink and green basket at the meeting to accept your wonderful donations.

NEW CLUB!
SUNSHINE CLUB
|
Michelle Pugh is looking for some smiling faces to join her in welcoming our visitors and new members. Also, the Sunshine club wants to not just acknowledge the sad things that are happening in our lives, but the the happy things, too! She is looking for some smiling people to both help her greet our people at the door at the guild meetings, and keep us up to date with the happenings of the membership. She has some really fun ideas for this club. If you are interested in joining, please email ladiesofthelakesfl@gmail.com with the heading, SUNSHINE, and we will get you in touch with Michelle! Michelle sent a card this month to Joyce for the passing of her mother.

This month's fat quarter drawing is Bunnies/Pastels. Bring in a fat quarter, and if your ticket is drawn, you go home with a fat quarter bundle. See Diane Bishop at the back table to turn in your fat quarter(s). Fat Quarter drawing for May is Run for the Roses/Horses and Roses and Green.

2026 Quilts by the Lake Quilt Show!
|
It's that time where we start gearing up for our Quilt Show and we are looking for volunteers. Please take a moment to look over the list and if you see an area you would like to volunteer in, please email ladiesofthelakesfl@gmail.com with the heading: QUILT SHOW.

LOOKING FOR CHAIRPERSONS FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
|
- Quilt Show co-Chair with Kimberly
- Opportunity Quilt-this person would be responsible to the "keeping of the quilt". You would take it home after the guild meetings and bring it back and set it up.
- Programs-this person would type the program and work with the program ads person for our program book.
- Racks/Poles setup/Takedown-this person would head up the setting up of the racks/poles and work with ROTC day of setup.
- Cookie Sales-Mary Goodin is the Chair of this area, but is looking for an assistant
- Hanging Quilts-This person heads up the hanging of the quilts the day of setup.
- Program ads-this person seeks out advertisers for the program and works with the Program person to get the necessary information in the program book.
- Baskets-this person will head up the collection and making of the baskets. Kathy Vousden is assisting.
- Boutique Books/Magazines-this person would be in charge of this section of the boutique.

Employment Opportunity
Our good friends at Fabric Warehouse are looking for part time help in the store. If you can work one or two days a week and can lift up to 30 lbs, they would love to talk to you. Call the store and ask for Alison, 863-680-1325. Tell her you heard about it in the guild newsletter.

This Month's Class
Rainbow Sun with Sylvia Schaefer
|
This class combines improvisational piecing and paper piecing in a project designed to use your small scraps. We will begin with improvisational piecing, creating new fabric from collection of old favorites, then we’ll use our improvisationally pieced sections to paper piece the modified Mariner’s Compass block that forms the center of this fun little wallhanging. This class also includes a light lunch but please bring your own drink with a lid. There will also be $10 class kit provided by the instructor that includes your template, as well as your white fabric and scraps provided by the guild. If you already purchased a book, you will still get your fabric for free. If you would like to purchase the book, the cost for that is $25 that will include the above. Of course, you will need to bring your own sewing machine/sewing notions. There is a supply list on the website under Bylaws/Forms tab if you would like to bring your own fabric.This class is only $30 (plus kit $10 paid directly to Sylvia at Class time. THERE ARE STILL SPOTS AVAILABLE. PLEASE SIGN UP ON THE WEBSITE Non-Members are welcome to join us for an additional $10 non member fee paid in cash at the time of the class.

Meet our Guest Speakers/Upcoming Guild Meetings

Sylvia Schaefer has been quilting since 2007. Her PhD in marine science often inspires her quilt designs, both directly and indirectly. Her quilts and patterns have been published in magazines both online and in print. Her work has been exhibited and won awards regionally and nationally.
|
|
|
|
|
With over 45 years in the sewing industry, Eric has developed a wide
spectrum of expertise. For
over 27 years he worked for Sulky of America while continuing to
indulge his passion for sewing machine repair in the evenings and
weekends. Eric is
passionate about inspiring students of all ages to discover a lifetime of
creative fun.

|
|
Kate has been a quilt pattern designer, instructor, and quilt show judge for more than a decade. She enjoys all aspects of quilting, and designs patterns for piecing and applique that are accessible to all levels of quilters.

Kate will be presenting the lecture, batting, Needles and Ping, Oh My!
