NEXT SWAP IS JUNE:
Diane will be presenting a workshop called Ahead of the Curve: Improv Curves. She specializes in scrap quilts. The supply list is located in the Bylaws and Forms Section of the website. You can purchase a ticket for the class on the Event Calendar. There is a pattern needed for the class and you can purchase at the meeting for $10.00.

Our guest for the June meeting is Aurora Lowell Charter. She will be sharing with us a trunk show of her favorite quilts.

For our August second Saturday meeting, Fabric Warehouse is hosting us for a Charity Quilt Sewalong. Time to go through your stash and make use of that fabric you are not going to use. The Accuquilt cutting machine and 8" die and block will be available for use. There will be some cut squares available to sew. Please join us to sew some quilts for our community. time will be 9-4. Bring your lunch.

LOUISE'S CHARITY CORNER

For several years our guild has been donating quilts to the Pregnancy Center. The latest donation generated a very nice " thank you" email from the Center, requesting more. During the year 2023 we gave them five quilts. This organization has a unique behavior modification program for the girls receiving services at the center. The clients receive points for things like keeping appointment, arriving on time, involvement of the father of the baby, class attendance at the center or in school, etc. The accumulated points allow the client to go shopping in the on-site "store," usually for baby items, like the quilts we donate. So if you have or would like to make some additional newborn type quilts, they are needed and requested. The request asked for gender neutral colors like green, yellow, or orange.Thanks to all you quilters!

This past month several of us got together and cut the Ohio Star Quilts of Valor Blocks. We cut over 100 kits. The kits will be available to take with you at the meeting to complete and return. Laura Baker will be collecting blocks in the fall. Thank you to all who participated in cutting the blocks.

Our Seasonal Block has flown IN!
|
Our seasonal block is a fun Kite! See Sue at the back table to pick yours up. When you sign up to take a block, the cost is free and your name goes in the hat to win 9 blocks! We will draw a name for every 9 turned in. The Blocks are 18 by 18. HOWEVER, if you take a block and do not return it, the cost will be $5.00. We really want you to take a block, but this only works if the blocks are returned. So, if you take one, please make it and bring it back for the drawing. You will have until August to make your block.

|
I’m Diane Harris—a quilter who loves everything about the process and enjoys sharing it with others. I’ve been sewing for almost 50 years and quilting for three decades. For 11 years, I was an editor for Quiltmaker magazine where I wrote patterns, product reviews and how-to articles.

Aurora Lowell Charter
|
Aurora is our guest speaker for June. Her quilts have won her ribbons in many quilt competitions including Paducah, KY. Her techniques are outstanding and innovative. The quilts have been featured in quilt magazines and she is the designer and inventor or the game Quiltopoly, a take on the game Monopoly.

Pot Luck/Game Night
July Meeting

Back by popular Demand! We had such a good time last summer with the pot luck, we have decided to make it an annual event. This year we will be playing Quilto for Fat Quarters. A Quilto card costs 1 fat quarter each. Bring your buttons to fill up your card. You can play up to 5 Cards. Sign up on the Events calendar if you can attend and sign up for what you are bringing at the meeting.
